I started my morning off with this quote….
If we are simply creating wealth for “wealth’s sake” to live in a big house and to drive a new car without any thought to how we can change and better our communities, our homeland, our world, or help our fellow man, then what is it all for? ~Synolve Craft
I truly believe that Your goal, Your plan, Your idea has to be about something bigger than just you alone…
Like many of you, I have been reading the disturbing reports of America’s new poor. People who through no fault of their own are now homeless, hungry, and/or sick with no health care. How much longer can this go on? Truly, when will we begin to care again about our fellow man? We may call ourselves many things: Christian, Spiritual, Protestant, Catholic, Atheist, Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc. But the common bond that we all share is our humanity. We are all part of the human race and for better or for worse we’re in this together. If one of us is hungry, then we’re all hungry.
I was reflecting back to my childhood when the local plant, Panola Mills, closed down. Hundreds of people lost their jobs, and my little town might not have survived if it weren’t for the townspeople who gathered together. They helped each other. They fed each other. They shared more than just cups of sugar, bags of flour, or the fruits and vegetables from their home grown gardens…they shared their hearts. They loved each other. Words like Christian, Spiritual, Methodist, Catholic, Atheist, Republican, Democrat, Independent meant something, but humanity thru showing love meant so much more. For years to come, Batesville, MS would be the “little town” that could. And while Batesville has never fully recovered, it has moved forward by bringing in and developing new industries while refocusing on eduction of its residents to survive in a new economy. I remember town meetings and church meetings focused solely on bringing in and creating jobs. Almost a decade later, restaurants, small businesses, and an outlet mall now call this rural town home. Down in the Delta, people are bound to a common purpose and sing a mantra that is deeply rooted within the human spirit, “I will survive.” They, like millions of other humans on the planet have found a more lucrative currency which is love.
It pains me to see people in such distress and agony throughout the United States today. Stories of bankers, stockholders, and CEOs taking more than their fair share and laying off workers simply to increase their bottom line swirl inside my mind sickening me. When will it end? Hardworking people who believed if they did an honest days work for an honest days pay are now forced to apply for government assistance simply to cover their most basic survival instinct which is to eat and find food. Politicians and insurance companies debate health care as if they were talking about the weather, all the while deflecting the truth that they are talking about the lives of people who do not live in some 3rd world country over “there” somewhere, but who live right here in America. If one person without healthcare dies on our watch or suffers needlessly because of a lack of insurance or people starve just inches away from our back door, or children sleep in the cold and the rain while gazing on our mansions from the gates, fences, and security walls we have constructed to keep them at arms length, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. This isn’t a tea party. This is life. We have no right to play games that render such devastating consequences with God’s creations…
We can build conscious companies who care about employees. Companies that understand that creating a company is for the human good of us all, and who are led by CEOs that are bound to protect them. Shareholders who not only drive profits, but fuel innovation and creativity while fostering community and self worth. This is a company I would work for, and it is the one that I am creating called the Infinite Field. Yes, in many ways as a CEO, my words offer a challenge to other leaders to create better companies and to break the mold to create something new.
I started off my morning with a couple of quotes, but I’ll end with just this one You have the power to control and shape your world. What will you do with it? When will you begin? Life is far too precious to be silent, too precious to be uncaring, too precious to live without spreading love. Open your heart today. Find a space within your heart to love. Give someone the gift of a love life simply by caring enough to listen. Then begin creating a world that is so full of love that nothing can contain it.
Consider this: We are our poorest when we enraptured with greed. We are our richest when we are helping our fellow man.
